Fred Hinger (1920-2001) was recognized throughout the world as one of the great percussion authorities and instrument designers. He was one of the most innovative players, teachers and product designers in the history of percussion. He had the distinction of holding two of the world’s premier orchestral timpani positions: The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra of New York.

These mallets incorporate some of Fred Hinger’s patented design features, which set them apart from any other mallets on the market today. The highest quality German felt is hand-sewn in the tradition of the original Hinger Timpani mallets.

For those who prefer a very lightweight wooden handle, the Pro-Custom™ 3 line offers the same superb craftsmanship on a 5/8-inch diameter maple wood stick. Weights and/or grips can be added separately, if the player so desires.
